What’s your Color?

What’s your color today? What do you choose?

I’ve been working on a project where you pick a color and paint.

I use watercolor because it dries quick and is easy to clean up. The trick is being able to have your supplies handy and not hard to get out or pick up. The key is do not paint anything representation.

It takes about 5 minutes a day. We all have 5 minutes, right?

You need a good notebook of watercolor paper; a set of paints with multiple colors, a mop brush and a mardi gras cup for water.

Next: Pick a color! Any color, go with your first instinct. I chose Green for the blog post. Just lay the color down, don’t worry about it being perfect.

Look at how amazing the watercolor pools and dries in layers.

I have found that I have a more creative and productive day when I take the time to Pick My Color for the Day.  There are color studies about what color means, but that’s not what I’m looking for in this exercise. I’m enjoying the freedom to pick a color and let it do what it will do. No rules, no constraints, no expectations. Just pick a color and see what happens.

Let me know how it works for you and post back a picture of your creation!
